Understanding fees

Updated July 19, 2026

Two separate fees apply to each donation: Givvent’s 2.5% platform fee, which keeps the platform running, and Stripe’s payment processing fee of 2.9% + $0.30 per transaction. There are no upfront costs, no monthly subscriptions, and no hidden charges, ever.

Here’s a worked example. On a $100 donation where the donor doesn’t cover fees: Givvent’s fee is $2.50 and Stripe’s fee is $3.20, so the campaign receives $94.30. If the donor covers the fees instead, a little over $6 is added to their charge and the campaign receives the full $100.

Donors can choose to cover both fees at checkout, and most do. The "cover the fees" option is checked by default, so campaigns usually receive 100% of the intended gift.

Donations to verified nonprofits follow a different path (they’re delivered through our nonprofit giving partner). See "How nonprofit donations work" for details.
